No Budget Filmmaking: Web Series, Short Films, Sundance, Slamdance and the Park City Madness

Do you want to make a movie? You can do it. On your own. With no money. And no budget.

Start with a short film. Or make a web series. Or if you want to be bold, start with a no budget feature film.

The best independent films are the ones made with little or no money. And if you're just starting out as a filmmaker, it's best to start out with a short film as your calling card.

Short films are the rage on the film festival circuit. They're the most talked about, get the most buzz, the biggest audiences, and lead to many things.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE started as a short at Slamdance. SLING BLADE started as a short film at Sundance. My first short film PHONE SEX GRANDMA exploded at Slamdance. My follow up short film THE OUTHOUSE was made for 99 bucks, paid by Slamdance and became a cult hit as well on the film festival circuit. And my new hit short film WOODY THE REDNECK is exploding on the film festival circuit, and created the same web series of the same name.

Short films lead to a lot. Make a short film and get it out on the film festival circuit.

Matter of fact....if you can get your short into Park City (via Sundance and Slamdance), welcome to the Park City madness. It's insane. You're treated like a rock star. And have an unforgettable experience. It's a great way to launch your filmmaking career.

It's easy to have a successful movie. You just have to make your movie.

Be a moviemaker. Be an independent filmmaker.

Make your movie.
